AccessHealth renovated a former office building into a brand new clinic in Fayetteville, WV. Being so close to the country’s newest National Park, New River Gorge National Park and Preserve, means the locals appreciate many different outdoor activities. The clean, crisp interior design is accented by artwork of and reflecting this local outdoor culture.

Signage and wayfinding were important aspects to this project as well, so a system was devised to make movement throughout the facility simple for both patients and staff.

Artwork was procured through several means: professional local photographer Jesse Thornton‘s work is featured in patient waiting areas and the staff lounge, outdoor activities and nature themes were purchased through a commercial art website and are displayed in corridors and exam rooms, and finally, AccessHealth held an art contest for their patients and those pieces are displayed in the remaining exam rooms. This approach garnered goodwill in the community and maximized their budget.
