Jill Watkins, Owner of Watkins Design Works, is an NCIDQ-Certified interior designer with nearly 30 years of experience in commercial interior design, and over 20 years devoted to sustainable design.

She earned a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, then lived in Cleveland, Ohio and Boston, Massachusetts for 13 years before moving back home to Charleston, West Virginia in 2008.  During that time, she worked for several  interior design, architecture and engineering firms on a variety of commercial interiors projects and nurtured a passion for sustainable design after attending a presentation by architect and futurist John Picard in 1997. 

She became one of the founding members of the Cleveland Green Building Coalition (now part of USGBC Ohio), was Chapter President of the International Interior Design Association in Ohio/Kentucky for 4 years, and led the green effort for Gillette’s World Shaving Headquarters renovation that has since become part of Procter & Gamble’s green building standards.

Jill is a Certified Interior Designer in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C., LEED AP BD+C, WELL AP, and a Professional Affiliate Member of AIA West Virginia.  She is a backpacking, hiking, and bicycling leader for the Appalachian Mountain Club’s New York/North Jersey, Delaware Valley, and Potomac Chapters, is vice chair of the AMC Potomac Chapter, certified in Wilderness First Aid, and completed the Leave No Trace train-the-trainer course.
